
COACHING
Before we dig a little deeper into the realm of coaching I would like to go over a few ground rules for those that have never been coached before, as well as those that have been coached before. The first thing is simple. Not every coach is for every person and not every person is for every coach. You have to understand what YOUR goals are and do your best research to find that Coach that best suits your needs. Another thing to remember is that whatever Coach you employ is just that, your employee. That Coach works for YOU. While you are paying them for their earned knowledge and ability to get you to where you need/want to be, they are still working for you and not the other way around. As an OCB Approved Coach you will always get access to me from 8-7. Early mornings are my training times and the evenings are my family time. But from 8-7 feel free to call me, text me or email me and I always respond as soon as I possibly can (usually within minutes). I’m the Coach you’ll hear from within minutes and not days.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and how to implement that knowledge is one of the main things you are paying a coach for. Don’t ever be afraid to ask any Coach why they are giving you this workout or having you eat this much food or do this certain exercise. Any Coach with a knowledgeable background should be able to give you a legitimate answer as to why he/she is having you do certain things. As for myself, I went to college for Nutrition and have enhanced that knowledge with tons of courses that better suit what I am doing in the Fitness industry. Since my last competition in 2015 I have literally devoted my life to the fitness industry with an unabated thirst for knowledge within it. I personally had my hormones blown from incorrect dieting and reverse dieting in my last competition so my first goal was to learn as much as I could about repairing hormones as well as gut issues. I have battled gut issues from a previous life of anorexia as well as a few years of wearing a squeem. When I give out macros to my clients I keep in mind any gut issues that they may have so I am very familiar with utilizing FODmaps, IBS issues, hormonal issues, celiac, crohn’s disease, candida, SIBO and SIFO as well as several other gut and hormonal issues. Each and every macro plan is designed for THAT client and not a cookie cutter made for all macro plan. I will go in depth with you and discuss any questions that you may have so that you can better understand as to the why’s of your macro plan.
TRAINING
This part is so subjective. To keep training simple it is a ton of different ways to do just two things; push and pull. Depending upon your fitness level and your goals I will devise a fitness program specifically for you and what you are trying to achieve. The plan will combine both weight lifting and cardio to achieve maximum weight loss and/or muscle gain. With training I can assure you that with 100 different trainers you will get 100 different ideas as to how to get to the same goal. Hence seek a Coach that has actual knowledge and not one that simply “looks good”. I am an A.C.E. certified personal trainer and I am also an OCB approved Coach.
Nutrition
“Abs are built in the kitchen”. Have you ever heard that saying? Well, it is indeed true. Nutrition plays such an integral part of your overall health. I do not want to call this part my “specialty” as I feel I am a well rounded Coach, but I can tell you without doubt that I am extremely passionate about Nutrition. I am a firm and true believer in the motto, “Let food be thy Medicine”. So much can be done to live a healthier lifestyle with just food and knowing the ins and outs of what to do with it. I’ll explore healthy eating habits with you to cut down on processed foods. I’ll teach what foods are good for healing certain areas. I’ll also share favorite recipes that can be made in healthier ways and still taste GREAT! This is where I excel and together we can build a solid foundation in which to build on.

This has been so true for me over the years, so much so that my husband actually got me a glass copy of this as a reminder for me and it sits right on my desk to this day. My first competition was a jump into the deep end of the pool. In just my class alone there were over 40 athletes. While I placed a respectable position in relation to the number of athletes, it was not what I expected of myself and knew I could do better. This meme to the left puts it all in perspective for me. This is all about ME and not a trophy.

Practice makes perfect.
Yes, but it takes A LOT of practice to make posing perfect. This part of competing should earn just as much time practicing as your gym time as well as your eating habits. If you do not practice at posing you are ignoring a huge portion of your potential success!
Stage Presence!
It’s your stage….OWN IT!! Ask a judge, ask a Coach and ask anyone in the industry. When you are on stage it better be YOUR stage and no one else’s. Confidence is what the judges want to see. Yet another aspect of coaching.

Results or Excuses you cannot have both! Lindsay had plenty of things along this journey that could have derailed her, but she chose to persevere and hit the stage for her very first show. Four categories and four pieces of well earned Fitness hardware. I am so proud of this wonderful athlete that I am Blessed to call my client and friend.

Almost there!!
This is one of my clients who took the Pandemic in stride and tried to do his first show August 1st of last year. I took him from a starting weight of 207 .lbs down to 182 .lbs in just 6 short months DURING the Pandemic. I say almost there as his show was canceled two weeks before due to Covid. He will be back trying for his first show this year. Trust the process!
